MØTRIK on Fire at Ashland’s only Downtown Winery! A Krautrock Kronicle

Bringing back Music to Downtown Ashland, Oregon

Ashland Winery Concert Music

Ashland, are you ready to ROCK? (Like, the verb "rock," not the noun "rock," although we do have those here in abundance.)

Last Thursday, something truly mind-melting happened in our little mountain town. Remember that scene in This is Spinal Tap where they get lost backstage? Yeah, it was kinda like that, but with more synthesizers and fewer exploding drummers. (We're looking at you, Lee!)

We, the intrepid souls of Resistance Wine Company, embarked on a mission: to transform Ashland into a must-stop destination for touring bands. Why? Because frankly, we were tired of driving to Portland every time we wanted to hear something that didn't involve a banjo. (No offense to banjo players, you guys are cool, but sometimes a girl needs some cosmic synth vibes, ya know?)

Enter MØTRIK, Portland's self-proclaimed "America's Best Krautrock Band." (And who are we to argue? They've got the lasers and the fog machine to prove it.) These guys are like the musical equivalent of a double rainbow: unexpected, mesmerizing, and slightly terrifying.

Chris McKean, the co- wizard behind Sound Wave Media, was instrumental in making this whole shebang happen. (Chris, you're a legend, and we owe you a lifetime supply of organic kombucha.)

"I haven't seen this much cable since I tried to install my own Wi-Fi," Chris remarked, while simultaneously wrestling with a tangled microphone cord and dodging a rogue laser beam. "But hey, at least nobody's asked for a cucumber sandwich yet."

The night itself was a blur of pulsating rhythms, swirling lights, and enough fog to make a Londoner feel right at home. MØTRIK unleashed their sonic fury upon the unsuspecting audience, who responded with a mixture of awe, confusion, and spontaneous dance moves that would make David Byrne proud.

"I think I just saw someone levitate!" I exclaimed, while simultaneously trying to prevent a particularly enthusiastic audience member from crowd-surfing on an inflatable unicorn. "Or maybe it was just the tannins in the Malbec talking..."

But beyond the music, the laughter, and the occasional spilled beer, something truly special happened that night. We proved that Ashland, with its quirky charm and vibrant community, can be a haven for artists of all stripes.

So, to all the bands out there, we say: Come to Ashland! We've got mountains, rivers, an amazing venue for pop-up concerts and a growing appetite for music that pushes boundaries and expands minds. Just be prepared for a few unexpected twists and turns along the way. After all, this is Ashland, where weird is the norm and normal is just plain weird.

P.S. Check out MØTRIK's music here:

You won't regret it. Unless you're allergic to awesome.

Stay weird, Ashland!
